Embracing the Slip-on Shoe Trend, Nike Unveils a New Jordan Brand Easy-Entry Line

On Monday, Nike’s Jordan brand took the wraps off its debut slip-on sneakers designed especially for children.

Taking advantage of the high demand for hands-free sneakers, various brands, like Venture and Nike-backed Kizik, are jumping on this trend with a collection that suits everyone.

Introducing the Jordan 23/7 collection, designed with both convenience and comfort. These shoes provide effortless entry, plus an adjustable upper that you can widen for a snugger fit as needed. With this line of footwear, you won’t have to worry about taking your kicks off after long days on the go!

Tate Kuerbis, design director of Jordan brand for kid’s footwear, stated in a news release that the 23/7 was created with the ambition to build a shoe that would be an integral piece of any child’s life. Further, he added, “Kids want to get into their shoes quickly to get out and play — this shoe enables them to do just that.”

Kuerbis brilliantly crafted the Air Jordan signature models from 18, 19, and 31 through 36.

For years, Nike has been experimenting with shoes that are effortless to put on. In 2015, they unveiled the FlyEase, a simple slip-on shoe designed for easy entry and comfort.

In 2017, Nike hosted a design competition for specially designed athletes’ sneakers. They also offer a convenient version of their popular Metcon training shoe slip-on!

Moreover, Nike has invested in Kizik, a Utah-based company that manufactures slip-on sneakers and licenses its technology. The company proudly declared a $20 million Series B round this year. Nike embraced its Series A funding round and has acquired the necessary licenses to utilize their technology.

In a stunning announcement, Kizik recently unveiled the inauguration of their very first retail store and disclosed a 270% yearly growth in sales.
